Job Description

Lutheran Family & Children's Services of Missouri is seeking an individual to provide effective counseling/therapy to eligible children and youth who seek help for mental health related concerns. This position is located in three schools in Washington, MO. DUTIES: Provide effective counseling/therapy to clients including case coordination and crisis intervention as needed. Determine the type of therapy and best practices interventions to use with each client. Complete a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and treatment plan. Decide when termination is appropriate. Determine most effective response to crisis and other non-routine problems related to client and program need. Decide what information to include in case record. Provide routine reports to the school administration. Maintain the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality. Maintain accurate and complete client records. Provide input and recommendations to program administration on program area of expertise and job related policies and procedures. Participate in peer consultation. Collaborate with community referrals as needed for client services and program development.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Education and Experience: Therapist II - Masters degree or higher in a mental health related field with professional license from the State of Missouri (LPC or LCSW) plus two years of clinical experience. Therapist III - Masters degree in a mental health related field with professional license from the State of Missouri as a Professional Counselor (LCSW or LPC) plus a minimum of five years of clinical experience Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of counseling theories and practice, therapeutic models and interventions. Knowledge of mental health assessment and interventions. Knowledge of ethical standards and legal regulations. Knowledge of community resources. Effective professional therapeutic skills. Crisis intervention skills. Ability to function on a team. Communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate client records. Time management skills. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or control; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, climb up to 2 feet; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift up to 10 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to access, enter, modify, and retrieve data on a personal computer. The employee is also required to read, write, and speak the English language.
