Job Description

Job Title: Home Study Specialist (Per Fee Basis) Lutheran Family & Children's Services of Missouri is seeking a compassionate, professional Home Study Specialist for the Springfield Office. They will conduct home studies for prospective foster and adoptive applicants in the Southwest Missouri area. They will also provide post placement supervision for adoptive families. Duties: Provide quality direct services to clients; including education, evaluation and writing the home study in a timely manner. Remain up-to date on all associated policies and guidelines of the agency. Remain up-to-date on all associated State of Missouri licensing guidelines, policies, and practices for applicants wishing to adopt/foster through the State of Missouri. Remain up-to-date on all associated Intercountry/Hague guidelines, processes and policies of applicants wishing to adopt internationally. Seek supervision as needed throughout the home study process Provide resources and referrals to home study applicants as needed. Attend training and meetings at the direction of the supervisor. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology or other related field. Five years of experience in child welfare and adoption fields. Knowledge and Skills: Must have extensive experience and current working knowledge of the state licensing process for foster and adoptive parents, and adoption. Accomplished social work practices, child welfare and parenting skills related to fostering and adopting. Knowledge of therapeutic foster parenting. Knowledge of Children’s Division policies. Knowledge of grief, loss issues, trauma and child development. We are an equal opportunity employer.
