Job Description

Job Title: Professional School Counselor Part-Time Lutheran Family & Children's Services of Missouri is seeking a compassionate professional to provide effective counseling/therapy services to eligible students and their families who seek help for mental health related concerns. This position will also provide consultation for school personnel and parents. The age of students may range from early childhood through high school. The positions will be based in public and parochial schools. These positions will be based on budget availability. Duties: Provide effective counseling services to clients including individual, group, case management and crisis intervention as needed. Provide consultation for school staff and parents. Maintain accurate and complete client records. Provide classroom mental health education as agreed upon with schools staff. Assist in the development of classroom materials. Earn continuing education hours needed to meet licensure requirements. Maintain the highest levels of standards of ethics and confidentiality. Qualifications: Minimum Education & Experience: Masters degree in a mental health related field and either fully or provisionally licensed as a professional counselor (PLPC or LPC) or clinical social worker (LMSW or LCSW) in the State of Missouri. Must be a licensed driver with access to a reliable automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of counseling theories and practices, therapeutic models and interventions. Knowledge of mental health assessment and treatment planning. Knowledge of ethical standards and legal regulations. Knowledge of community resources. Effective professional therapeutic skills. Crisis intervention skills. Ability to function as an effective team member. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate and complete client records.
