Job Description

Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri (LFCS) is a not-for-profit social services organization serving the state of Missouri. We provide counseling, adoption, crisis pregnancy assistance, foster care, child care, youth mentoring services, disaster relief and advocacy (on behalf of children and families) services and programs –reaching out to more than 46,000 individuals and families annually. LFCS is looking for a dynamic Senior Major Gifts Officer to be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the individual major donor program in the greater St. Louis area to meet the organization’s fundraising goals and build the individual donor base. This individual will also be responsible for direct solicitation of gifts as well as for cultivation and donor engagement.

Job Requirements

DUTIES: • Manage a large St. Louis area major gift program. • Solicit large gifts on behalf of the organization. • Manage relationships with donors and prospects. • Understand and integrate individual development efforts with the Foundation Annual and Strategic Plan, the Agency mission, and projects and specific programmatic support. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or related field required. • Three years of experience in fundraising with non-profit organization including major gifts fundraising or five years successful sales experience. • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: • Knowledge of fundraising principles and ethical standards. • Knowledge of major gift solicitation and cultivation. • Familiarity with modern gift techniques and tools for non-profits. • Familiarity with social services programs a plus. • Ability to build relationships with diverse population of constituents. • Ability to directly solicit funds from individual donors. • Strong organizational, communications (including public speaking), problem-solving and analytical skills. • Ability to collaborate and effectively manage multiple projects and activities with clearly defined goals and deadlines. • Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Office software programs and donor database software. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to access, enter, modify, and retrieve data on a personal computer. The employee is also required to read, write, and speak the English language.
